Accessibility Statement
This website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Here is what we test, what we haven’t tested yet, and how to tell us about a problem.
What we test
- Every change is checked automatically. On every pull request and every change to the main branch, axe-core runs the WCAG 2.2 level A and AA checks on every page, on a wide screen and on a phone.
- Keyboard. Every link and button can be reached with the keyboard, shows where the focus is, and is never hidden under the header. Every page has a “Skip to content” link.
- Motion. Everything that moves by itself (the carousels and the blinking cursor) can be paused with the button in the header. It starts paused when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Contrast. The site’s colors are tested for at least 7:1 contrast for body text and 4.5:1 for everything else.
- Small screens and text zoom. Every page works down to 320 pixels wide without scrolling sideways, and the Themes page is tested at 200% text size on a 320-pixel screen.
Not tested yet
Automated checks find only part of what WCAG asks for. We haven’t yet tested the site with a screen reader (such as NVDA or VoiceOver) or with custom text spacing, so we don’t claim full conformance yet.
The extension
In the VS Code extension, Stylesmith: Preset Gallery is also
checked automatically with axe-core for WCAG 2.2 level A and AA in headless
Chromium, supports full keyboard navigation and live-region filter
announcements, and Boot Sequence and
Digital Rain honor workbench.reduceMotion. For how
the Stylesmith color themes are tested for contrast and color blindness, see
Ergonomics.
